On the opposite side of the lake in the trees there is a trail that parallels the length of the lake, continuing .8 of a mile on beyond it into Maple Valley. Going the other direction the trail connects with the Cedar River Trail, which is an abandoned railroad route that has been paved. It goes into Renton, ending adjacent to the Renton Boeing Plant at the south end of Lake WA. It is a 15.5 mile trail that is well used by people on bikes, skates, joggers, and those walking.

People on the small peninsula going out into the lake are picnicking. You can see their fire near the right side of the peninsula. Beyond this area is another large section of the lake where there is a swimming area and restrooms. The Lake Wilderness Arboretum is beyond that.
